M-TECH, which previously operated as the International Training and Education Center for Health (I-TECH) at the University of Washington (UW) was formed in October 2023 and complements the capacity of Human Resources for Health ( HRH) in Malawi through secondment of technical assistants (TAs) to the MOH’s Department of HIV and AIDS (DHA), Diagnostic Department, National Tuberculosis and Leprosy Elimination Program (NTLEP), Reproductive Health Department (RHD) and Lighthouse Trust.

M-TECH’s technical assistance to Malawi MOH and Public Health Institute of Malawi (PHIM) also covers the implementation of national surveillance systems to improve the generation of high-quality epidemiological data and promote the timely use of data by policy makers through timely results dissemination

In addition, M-TECH has robust financial and administrative policies, procedures, and systems to successfully administer and manage complex international grants from diverse funding sources, evidenced by the release of clean external audit reports.
